can therapy help me?

The common misconception is that therapy is only for people who are in crisis or have a serious illness.

The reality is that almost anyone, regardless of their mental state and condition, can benefit from therapy - even those that do not feel they need it.

As I already mentioned, therapy, in my view, is like going to the gym, but we exercise the mind rather than the body, and, whilst hard work on our bodies pays off in some ways, the gains to be had when we are prepared to work on our minds are astounding, allowing us to redefine our entire reality!

If you're looking for relief or support, read on to learn more about what symptoms and conditions psychotherapy could be beneficial for.

Or, if you can’t quite determine what is wrong, or just want to reap the benefits of the real-life improvements that are to be made with therapy, get in touch!

Your Concerns

Based on my training and professional experience as a psychotherapist, these are some of the issues I offer support for:

Therapy for anxiety

unlock the root cause of anxiety

Through psychotherapy, gain insight into yourself and better understand what may be at the root of your issues and how to combat them.

In therapy, you're not alone

Your therapist will help you explore your anxieties and worries in a safe, supportive environment, giving you the opportunity to work through them without fear or judgement.

take control of your life

Gain the confidence you need to take back control of your emotions and stop worry from ruling your life. You’re in charge here, not your emotions!

live a fulfilled life

Discover a greater sense of wellbeing and inner strength, that you can carry with you in everyday life, regardless of the situations and challenges you may face. Living a fulfilled life may seem like a pipe dream, but it is within your reach.

Get help with depression

embrace your feelings

Many people are unsure of how to deal with emotions and suppress anything that is uncomfortable to confront. Therapy can help you discover the causes of depression and teach you how to actually process difficult emotions.

regain control of your emotions and life

Learn how to take control over your emotions and be less susceptible to cycles of depression and other negative feelings.

build strong pillars with the help of therapy

Develop a strong emotional foundation that enables you to weather life’s storms without becoming overwhelmed.

Relationship therapy

increase self-awareness with therapy

Get a better understanding of yourself and your emotions so that you can more easily cope with differences between yourself and others.

deepen your understanding

Your psychotherapist can help you understand how your emotions, actions, and reactions influence the relationships in your life.

Improve communication for
stronger relationships

Some of us feel silenced, unable to communicate and get our point across. This can lead to often crippling low self-confidence. A therapist can help you improve your communication skills so you can be heard, express yourself openly, and engage in meaningful conversations with those that matter.

embrace conflict constructively

Unlearn self-sabotaging behaviour and know your boundaries. Many of us find it difficult to maintain calm when faced with conflict – improved communication achieved through therapy can help you better navigate these situations, reducing your own stress and subsequently avoiding escalations, leading to a solid foundation for any relationship.

Help with self-esteem

understand yourself better

Learn the sources and underlying roots of negative self-esteem to get a better handle on your emotions and reactions.

practice self-acceptance

Learn how to reframe negative thoughts and feel empowered, not devalued. Learn to let go of the things you can’t change and free yourself from self-doubt. Realise that everybody has flaws and that being imperfect is part of being human.

build confidence with therapy

Overcome that persistent inner critic, which holds you back from embracing and using your skills and talents to your fullest potential. Through your therapist, you can rebuild a more authentic relationship with yourself and create healthy self-esteem and confidence.

feel more connected through therapy

Acknowledge the power that self-esteem has on relationships and interactions. Strengthen bonds with friends, family and romantic partners by breaking down barriers built up over time.

Sexual abuse therapy

therapy - a safe space

Psychotherapy is a confidential space where you can talk about the sexual violence you have experienced, and the physical and emotional reactions to it, without the risk of being re-traumatised.

understand the effects of abuse

You can begin to pick out certain feelings, such as shame or guilt from what has felt like an overwhelming mass of feelings. Together we will explore why emotions such as anger or emptiness are normal after experiencing sexual violence.

strengthen your mind & body

Therapy can help you counteract the affects your abuse might be having on your life, such as helping you improve your relationships and self-care.

Trauma therapy

therapy for unresolved trauma

Trauma left untreated can lead to numerous mental health diagnoses including anxiety, depression, and PTSD. It can also cause physical symptoms such as high blood pressure, stroke, and heart attacks. Psychotherapy can help you discover hidden resilience and address unresolved feelings that are keeping you stuck.

re-learn with therapy

Recognize the maladaptive coping mechanisms that might have been adopted in order to survive distressing experiences.

trauma integration therapy

This is a process in which trauma is acknowledged to be a part of an ongoing reality but is no longer at the centre of experience.

How to find purpose in life

find focus

Become less vulnerable to what is sometimes called ‘psychological discord.’ This is the fundamental sense of unease we often experience whenever our attention isn’t occupied by external things, and which can manifest itself in boredom, anxiety, and depression.

become more confident through therapy

When you’re ‘in flow’, you feel a sense of competence and achievement, an enhanced ability to deal with difficulties and challenges.

expand beyond yourself

Aligning to a purpose often makes us less self-centred. We feel a part of something bigger, something outside ourselves, and this makes us less focused on our own worries and anxieties.

Therapy for men

understand the process of therapy

Learning about how therapy works, gives you more control and confidence in the process, and more understanding of the tangible benefits to you.

regain control

Learn to recognise, understand and manage your emotions to reclaim your sense of self-control and establish healthier boundaries.

therapy to help you feel empowered

Understand how to make adjustments in your life that will bring about positive, lasting change.

redefine masculinity with therapy

Build skills that will help you manage difficult emotions and cultivate healthy masculinity in the world. Its high time men were able to feel free of the pressures of what they feel they are expected to be: the tough, emotionless hunter-gatherer, and realise that it’s okay to feel the full spectrum of emotions.

“It is only because of problems that we grow mentally and spiritually. When we desire to encourage the growth of the human spirit, we challenge and encourage the human capacity to solve problems, just as in school we deliberately set problems for our children to solve. It is through the pain of confronting and resolving problems that we learn.”
